HA. FROM MY SURCH FOR THIS PRODUCT WAS HARD BUT ,I FOUND IT NOT INSTALLED YET BUT WILL GET THERE OUR FAMAOUS USPS LOST MY MENORY order STILL WAINTING TO INSTALL HA.
I quickly found out it should have been. Ability to play HD video was not among my requirements. However, this card offers no HW acceleration for HD video and the machine itself is too slow.Doing a little more research, there are PCI (not -E) cards out there that offer more performance and even HD video acceleration for $50 or so.Other than that, the performance is satisfactory for web and typing stuff. This product is obsolete. I got it to support a larger screen through DVI input on a lightly used (web & typing stuff) older machine that only has PCI slots available.
Since We got this computer in 2003, I didn't want to spend very much. I got this to "upgrade" a Pentium 4 Dell desktop my wife has to go with a new monitor (HP w2207. Works fine for daily use although this machine isn't for gaming. Under $40 was the price and the next level up was a 256k for twice that. Excellent monitor). The DVI connection works nice as well as being able to handle two monitors.
My 300 watt power supply doesn't seem to be a problem as cards are rated at 250 watt requirement accorder to visiontek customer service, who answer right away and are very helpful - Not that you need them - No need to disable motherboard video - Perfect. This card allows the monitors to perform at 120htz, 32 bit color which for me means less eyestrain. Nice to have a product work out of the box. I prefer the old vga crt monitors over lcd for less eyestrain.
Got two of these cards mainly to run four vga monitors (to on each card) with an hp dc5700 business machine. Note: I'm told multiple pci cards/multiple monitors (over two) are a function of motherboard compatibility, so check with your computer mfg. Video over internet smooth at 300k playback on dsl Bellsouth connection. Works perfectly as setup through windows xp pro.
Installed itself with proper drivers, totally silent, fast on all my programs running core 2 duo 6700 with 4 gig on board. before getting two or more of these cards. My old cards only went up to 75htz and 85htz refresh rates. Comes with vga converter included for the second video output from dvi to vga.
I have installed this video card on over 10 Dell Optiplex 320's for my office. This is PCI not PCI-e so be careful. It is my video card of choice. This is one great piece of hardware. Its cheap, it works perfectly, plug and play, no drivers needed, and it fits into the PCI slot with no problems.
